Basic Concepts
In general, the VSDX Export parses each graph item and translates it to a corresponding VSDX shape, group shape, connection, or label. It handles all built-in yFiles styles automatically and also supports most custom style implementations out of the box. All other styles can be processed with minimal configuration effort, too.
Three different approaches of translating the appearance of graph items are supported by this export. These can either be applied independently of each other or used together, and include the following:
-
The SVG elements of the visualizations of yFiles for HTML are analyzed and corresponding VSDX shapes and objects are created automatically.
-
Master shapes and styles are read from VSSX stencil files and used as templates for the individual VSDX shapes of the graph items.
-
VSDX shapes are created in code for each or some of the graph items.
Typical usage of this package does not require extensive knowledge of the VSDX file format. If you plan on writing your own VSDX masters and styles, though, you should have a solid understanding of the VSDX file format and its concepts. You can find different tutorials on the internet and there are several books available. For online documentation, please refer to the Visio Reference and the Visio Graphics Service VSDX File Format reference.
See the Working With the Export chapter for more details.
